Bubbler
A hand-held water pipe. Similar to bongs, a bubbler pipe has a mouthpiece, bowl, stem and water chamber. Most bubblers have fixed bowls that cannot be removed. As the name suggests, the bubbler may also contain a percolator that aerates your smoke. Bubblers with fixed bowls feature a carb, or hole, for smoke evacuation.
What is a bubbler?
A bubbler is an innovative smoking device that combines the advantages of full-size bongs and spoon pipes ordinary.
If you compare the bubbler to the bong, the main difference is size. Like ordinary bongs, a bubble pipe uses water filtration to produce a particularly smooth, fresh smoke. But unlike a full-size bong, a bubble pipe is hand-held and therefore much more discreet, easy to use and portable. Similarly, if you compare the bubbler and the pipe, the key difference is the use of water filtration. Like an ordinary spoon pipe, the bubble pipe is small and easy to carry, but it adds water filtration to enhance the smoker's experience.
How to use a bubbler
Step 1: Add water to the water chamber
First of all, add a small amount of water to the water chamber of your bubbler hose. Give the piece a quick tug to check that you've got the right amount. You need enough water to produce bubbles, but not so much that it splashes into the bowl or nozzle.
Step 2: Fill the bowl
When you're happy with the water level, toast your favorite cannabis strain and fill the bowl end of your bubble pipe. As with an ordinary spoon pipe, don't pack it so tightly that you have trouble getting good airflow.
Step 3: Heat the herb
If your bubbler has a carburetor hole, place a thumb or finger over it. Hold the bubbler tube close to your mouth and, as you start to inhale with your lungs, light part of the bowl. As you continue to inhale, the smoke will flow from the bowl into the water, creating tons of little bubbles. This bubbling action is what cools and filters the smoke.
Step 4: Clear the room
When you're ready to smoke, remove your thumb or finger from the carburettor hole and use your lungs to clear the chamber of your bubble pipe.
What's the difference between bubblers and bangs?
Size - Bubblers are much smaller than traditional bongs, making them more mobile and practical.
Bowl and stem - Most bongs use a cone-shaped bowl that slides in and out of the stem. Most bubblers, on the other hand, have no descending stem and feature a fixed bowl that resembles those found at the end of a pipe spoon.
How much water should I put in a bubbler?
The amount of water you put in your bubbler hose depends on the size of the room. Larger water chambers hold more water than smaller ones. In general, however, you don't really need that much water to get the right amount of water filtration. Before filling the herb bowl, first pour a small amount of water into the water chamber.
Now hold the piece and give it a good blow with your lungs. Do you have enough water to create a good bubble action? Is there enough water to splash the bowl or mouthpiece, outside the water chamber? The aim is to find a balance between the two. Try to have just enough water to create a good bubbling action, but not so much that it splashes the bowl or nozzle.
