«Welcome to the Cannabistrot», a CIRC event to discuss cannabis legalization
The Lyon-based Cannabis Information and Research Collective (CIRC) is organizing a conference and debate next Friday, April 19, open to the public, to discuss the details of a French-style cannabis regulation system. Liberal, State-led, or Libertarian? The debate is open.
What Does the Future Hold for Legalization?
The event «Welcome to the Cannabistrot™, What Does the Future Hold for Legalization?» consists of a series of lectures on the cannabis plant, its botanical and cultural aspects, national and international regulations, its status as a medication, and more. These will be followed by a debate on what “French-style” legalization should look like. The event will conclude with a benefit concert.
Last January, CIRC filed a trademark application for "Cannabistrot"™ to ensure that the «Cannabistrot» concept aligns with his vision and does not become a business model that treats cannabis as a mere commodity without incorporating the sense of community that comes from sharing it. Today, the CIRC is putting this «Cannabistrot» concept into practice—which is not necessarily a physical location but rather a way of operating.
The event will take place in Villeurbanne, a town in the Lyon metropolitan area, which The city hall had launched a major public consultation as well as roundtable discussions on the legalization of cannabis. In fact, it is Didier Vullierme, the deputy mayor for public safety, who was in charge of communications for the consultation, will open the CIRC event at 2 p.m. at the Cultural and Community Center.
