The K1, or Kalité Tizane, is a landrace from Reunion Island that took Breeders Bourdon several years to stabilize from zamal, one of the island's endemic varieties.
This plant should be reserved for lovers of landrace conservation, or for experienced growers. To grow this variety beyond the latitudes of its country of origin, FTS recommends starting K1 cuttings in 12/12 in small pots, to limit its growth. Outdoors, one plant can produce over 1kg of dried flowers, with a good after-season. Best suited to the south of France.
Like all zamal, it takes a long time to flower, and is powerful once dried and curried, with fruity, lemon and chili pepper aromas.
Therapeutically, it can be used as an herbal tea or as a poultice for skin irritations.
