Moby Dick is one of the strains that made Dinafem legendary. A powerful, sativa-dominant hybrid, this pungent, woody flower is a blend of Jack Herer (and not Haze as is often read) and White Widow, which leaves a citric taste amidst quasi-psychedelic vapors.
History of Moby Dick
Introduced in 2005, Moby Dick's characteristics go back much further, to the golden age of cannabis cultivation in Holland. The identity-preserved breeder King Kush is credited with creating this strain with the support and experience of Doctor OG. The crossing of a 15-year-old clone of the arch-renowned White Widow with another illustrious Sativa clone, one of the oldest members of Dinafem's mother collection, has produced one of Europe's unforgettable strains.

Moby Dick thus combines the best qualities of its parents: high yield, high resistance to parasites, generous resin production and a delicious woody, spicy flavour. It is also adaptable to almost all regions of the globe, with the exception of tropical zones and very cold countries.
This strain offers a vanilla flavor profile, with strong eucalyptus undertones. With myrcene as the dominant terpene, patients treated with medical cannabis say they choose this strain to relieve symptoms associated with stress, depression and anxiety.
Moby Dick has two phenotypes: one with sativa-dominant characteristics that can reach up to 4 meters outdoors, while the other is a smaller, indica-dominant phenotype that is only seen around 35% of the time.
Moby Dick awards
Unsurprisingly, the Moby Dick has received numerous awards. She was named «Girl of the Year» in 2010 by the trade journal Soft Secrets, and went on to win Best Sativa at the 2011 Summer Cup and the Silver Cup in Argentina.

The greatest reward of all, however, is the satisfaction it brings growers the world over. And its success can be measured by the number of Moby Dicks that exist in other seed banks, unrelated to Dinafem's original variety. Today, it is distributed by Silent Seeds.
All-terrain variety
One of Moby Dick's strengths is that it thrives in both enclosed and open spaces. In both cases, it requires an abundant quality substrate and a generous supply of water and nutrients.
Outdoors, it produces plants that can grow up to 3 meters tall and produce more than a kilo of dried flowers, given the right climatic conditions and the know-how of the gardener, who should already have a few runs under his belt before tackling the Whale.

If White Widow's heritage can be seen in the structure and accumulating knots, its aromas definitely come from Haze, with smells of cedar, pine, incense and even touches of pepper. King Kush used to say that its aromatic profile reminded him of «wooden pews like the ambience of an old church». Its taste blends citric accents with sweet, hazy and earthy notes, making Moby Dick a very tasty and authentic variety.
Be careful when tasting, however. With a cannabinoid profile tending towards 21% THC, the experience can be perilous for neophyte lungs. The best of us recommend having a small snack on hand to anticipate the craving that will inevitably arrive. The effects of this strain are highly psychoactive, due to high levels of tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV).
For those looking for a walk in the woods rather than an Iron Man, Dinafem has developed Moby Dick CBD with a cannabidiol-rich plant from the CBD Crew. The latter develops a THC:CBD ratio of 1:3, with 5% of THC and 15% of CBD, too much for our French laws, but which can be found legally in countries with authorized access to cannabis for adults. The result is a mental boost without the gloom.
