Strainprint, the medical app for optimizing cannabis consumption

Strainprint is an innovative app designed as a personalized interactive guide. It allows medical cannabis users to optimize and manage their own consumption. Launched in Toronto, Canada in 2016, Strainprint Technologies, Ltd., the The company that publishes the app generally offers software and analytics solutions for the’medical cannabis industry.

«Our goal is to advance the scientific understanding of cannabis and its legitimacy as a therapy,» the website states. The app is geared more toward people who use cannabis for medical purposes and want to use it more effectively. However, recreational users also have an option within the app to track their sessions.

How does it work?

First, the patient must sign up and select the symptoms they wish to treat. The app lists numerous diseases (over 200, at a glance), along with their associated symptoms. In the case of multiple sclerosis, for example, users can select spasticity, muscle pain, or joint pain from among about 40 other symptoms.

The user must then add the strains they use. By default, users can choose from a list of strains available in Canada, either at a dispensary or through the Canadian healthcare system.

After entering this information, the user must click «Track Session» each time they use cannabis. The app then asks which symptoms the patient wishes to treat and, on a scale of one to ten, asks for a rating of the symptoms’ severity. Each session earns loyalty points that can be redeemed for cannabis-related accessories such as grinders or vaporizers.

Finally, the patient must select the strain they wish to use and how they will consume it (strain, vaporizer, edibles, etc.). They must also determine the amount consumed.

After 20 minutes, the app will send a notification and ask the patient a series of questions to assess the effectiveness of the session.

This app is very easy to use and ideal for patients who want to treat their symptoms with strains tailored to their needs. It will help them assess the effectiveness of their cannabis use—specifically, to determine which strain works best for which symptoms, the best method of administration, the appropriate dosage, and so on.

The Strainprint app is available on the App Store as well as on Google Play.
