Scotts Miracle-Gro acquires the largest US distributor of hydroponic systems
Un rachat qui risque de faire grincer certaines dents. Scotts Miracle-Gro announced s’être entendu sur le rachat du plus gros distributeur de systèmes hydroponiques aux Etats-Unis, pour une somme de 450 millions de dollars. Ce rachat devrait booster la position du géant de la pelouse dans le business du cannabis.
Les actifs de Sunlight Supply rejoindront la branche dédiée au cannabis de Scotts Miracle-Gro, Hawthorne Gardening, aux côtés de marques comme Gavita (éclairage horticole), General Hydroponics ou Botanicare (nutriments).
Sunlight était lui-même fournisseur en nutriments organiques, systèmes hydroponiques et autres solutions d’éclairage.
Scotts prrofitera du réseau de distribution de Sunlight comprenant plus de 1800 points de vente aux Etats-Unis. Les ventes cumulées de Hawthorne et de Sunlight devraient atteindre les 600 millions de dollars pour 2018.
Le rachat s’est négocié à 450 millions de dollars, qui se décomposent en 425 millions de dollars en cash et 25 millions de dollars d’actions.
Scotts Miracle-Gro est par ailleurs le distributor officiel du RoundUp de Monsanto. Son attrait pour l’industrie du cannabis est donc scrutée de près.
