October 2026 CBD Highlights: 10 Strains and Hash to Discover from 5 French Producers
From hash with notes of pear and white flowers to hemp flowers that evoke soda, red berries, or gasoline, October’s selection showcases unique aromatic profiles. For this first monthly feature, Newsweed and Testeur de CBD are spotlighting five French producers and ten products that are well worth checking out.
French CBD has changed significantly. Flowers with indistinguishable aromas are gradually giving way to carefully developed genetics, phenotypes selected for their character, and cultivation methods that seek to preserve the full complexity of hemp. Resins are following suit, with extraction methods that no longer merely concentrate cannabinoids but also seek to recreate the plant’s aromatic identity.
To kick off this monthly selection, Newsweed is teaming up with Testeur de CBD, whose product tastings and analyses serve as the starting point for this selection. On the agenda: two hash varieties from Canebiera, the flowers light dep from Cannapache and Izno Farm, Jungle House’s living-soil crops, and two indoor strains from La Tête Française.
Canebiera: Hashish as an Expression of the Local Terroir
Based in the south of France, Canebiera has carved out a unique identity within the French CBD scene. Its strains are distinguished by original—and sometimes surprising—aromatic profiles, and its work with resins further advances this exploration.
Two products in particular illustrate this approach: Dulcis Candy and Pear Blossom, both of which are produced using a dry extraction process.
Dulcis Candy: Candy, Floral, and Hydrocarbons
Dulcis Candy by Canebiera
Dulcis Candy is a hash derived from a cross between Swiss Strawberry and Dutch Afghani, grown organically in a greenhouse and then processed using dry sifting at 150 microns.
With 29.23 % of CBD reported in the test, this resin stands out above all for its aromatic character. It features notes of candy and sugar, as well as floral and earthy tones, along with hints of gasoline and hydrocarbons. This is an unusual combination that sets it apart from classic resins with predominantly woody or spicy profiles.
During his tasting, Oro from Testeur de CBD highlights how faithfully the resin replicates the profile of the original flower. Its slightly frothy texture and the lingering aromas when vaporized are among its strengths.
Pear Blossom: a resin with notes of pear and white flowers
Pear Blossom offers a change of pace. This golden resin, also produced by dry sifting at 150 microns, has a much more delicate character.
Its name pretty much sums up the experience described by the testers: pear, white flowers, a fruity sweetness, and a lovely floral intensity. The fragrance retains its character when sprayed, even as the temperature rises.
In fact, Pear Blossom was one of the CBD Tester team’s favorites when they first discovered it. It’s an interesting example of how a well-executed extraction can enhance a floral terpene profile.
Cannapache: Two Light-Dep Flowers with Unexpected Profiles
Let's head to the Pyrénées-Orientales, where Cannapache specializes in processing flowers, among other things, in light deprivation, or light dep. This technique involves controlling the duration of light exposure to induce flowering in a greenhouse.
In its recent selection, two varieties stand out for very different reasons: Mustard Berry and Sweet Frost.
Mustard Berry: Mustard Meets Berries
Mustard Berry by Cannapache
This is a profile you don’t come across every day. In the #1 phenotype tested by Oro, Mustard Berry develops notes reminiscent of mustard seeds, with a slight hint of wasabi.
But far from being limited to this zesty aspect, its bouquet also reveals floral nuances, red berries, and a subtle sweetness. It’s a surprising combination, in which the herbal and spicy notes never completely take over.
The flower has a relatively airy structure, with well-defined calyxes and visible trichomes. When crushed, the aroma becomes more complex, revealing additional resinous and fruity notes.
Sweet Frost: A Red Berry Candy Shop
Sweet Frost by Cannapache
Sweet Frost explores a distinctly sweeter flavor profile. The #5 phenotype tested by Testeur de CBD evokes sweet candies, red berries, and—more specifically—strawberries and raspberries.
This impression is heightened when the coffee is ground, with notes of almost powdery sugar that bring to mind certain childhood candies.
Visually, Sweet Frost stands out for its compact, deep-green, resinous buds, which are meticulously trimmed. This offers an interesting contrast to Mustard Berry, which is airier and more unique in terms of aroma.
Above all, these two varieties demonstrate the diversity of possible expressions within these productions light dep from Cannapache.
Izno Farm: Corrèze Cultivates Natural Gas and Character
In Corrèze, Izno Farm continues its work on CBD strains with distinctive aromas. The flowers are grown in living soil, in a greenhouse, with photoperiod control through light dep.
Two recent creations reflect this pursuit of intense profiles, in which airy, resinous, and fruity notes blend together.
Château Izno: The Merger of Abacus and Tarmac
Izno Castle
A result of the Abacus × cross Tarmac, Château Izno combines two aromatic influences prized by enthusiasts of complex genetics. The result, as described by Testeur de CBD, is based on a balance between fruit, gassy notes, and a pronounced resinous character—often described as “dank” in cannabis lingo.
This variety is a natural extension of Izno Farm’s work: flowers that don’t just seek sweetness or sugar, but also a more distinct identity.
Shao Soda: A Sparkling Flower
Shao Soda from Izno Farm
With Shao Soda, a cross between Blue Shao and Legendary Zombie Kush (LZK), Izno Farm offers a particularly expressive profile. Right from the start, the aromas evoke tangy candy and fizzy soda. This is followed by notes of gas, chem, and a hint of sugar, though the bouquet never becomes truly sweet.
The tasting confirms this direction. Oro describes an intense, effervescent, and tangy profile, with notes of candy that balance out its rougher character. The flowers are slightly less compact than some of the farm’s other varieties, but Shao Soda’s appeal clearly lies in its aromatic expression.
Jungle House: Growing in Living Soil to Enhance Flavors
In Toulouse, Jungle House is focusing on indoor cultivation using living soil (living soil), an approach that seeks to maintain an active biological ecosystem around plant roots.
The producer also places great emphasis on genetic selection and post-harvest care of the flowers. In its 2026 collection, two varieties exemplify this approach: Lemon Candy and Wild Rose × Abacus.
Lemon Candy: Lemon in All Its Forms
Lemon Candy by Jungle House
With Lemon Candy, the name says it all. This flower has a distinctly lemony flavor profile, where the tartness of citrus meets the sweetness of candy.
The bouquet evolves as the tea is handled and the bag is opened. The initial sweet and tangy impressions give way to more herbal notes—slightly bitter and sometimes woody. A resinous, almost soapy quality rounds out the profile.
The flowers are beautifully dense, with shades of green, purple, and pink. Their texture and meticulous trimming contribute to the overall impression of quality highlighted by Testeur de CBD.
Wild Rose × Abacus: A Floral Explosion
Wild Rose x Abacus by Jungle House
This is probably one of the most unique profiles in this October selection. Wild Rose × Abacus combines aromas of rose petals, raspberries, grapes, and dark berries, with a sweet base reminiscent of red fruit candies.
What sets this wine apart is the intensity of its floral character. When tasted at a low temperature, Oro reveals particularly pronounced notes of rose and other flowers, which linger on the palate.
As the temperature rises, the variety's resinous character becomes more noticeable, without overshadowing its fruity notes.
A flower that particularly impressed the tester, and that shows just how much floral profiles can go beyond the usual associations with lavender or geranium.
La Tête Française: Two Indoor Strains That Are Full of Personality
Based in Lyon, La Tête FrançaisThe company is one of the producers that focuses on indoor cultivation and regularly updates its strains. Controlling the growing environment allows the company to fine-tune the structure of the flowers and preserve the trichomes. Two strains from its latest harvests caught our attention: Lilac Fuel and Lemon Leather.
Lilac Fuel: Flowers, Gas, and Gasoline
Lilac Fuel by La Tête Française
Lilac Fuel makes its presence known the moment you open the bag. Its bouquet blends floral notes with aromas of gas and gasoline, along with a noticeable acidity and a slight hint of sweetness.
Lemon also makes an appearance, but remains a secondary note in a profile dominated by more intense, resinous, and dank tones.
The flowers are dense, with shades of green, blue, and purple, and a generous coating of trichomes. When crushed, the gassy and tangy notes become even more pronounced.
For Oro, Lilac Fuel is the standout favorite of this tasting series at La Tête Française. It’s a strain whose rich aroma is reminiscent of certain profiles traditionally associated with THC-rich genetics, even though it’s part of a CBD hemp crop.
Lemon Leather: Lemon Takes on Leathery Notes
Lemon Leather by La Tête Française
Lemon Leather offers a darker, earthier take on the citrus-floral family. Its bouquet blends lemon with notes of leather, earth, resin, and gas. More unexpected nuances—sometimes reminiscent of meat—also emerge when the flowers are handled.
Visually, this strain stands out for its particularly well-developed structure, with hints of purple and pink, well-formed resinous leaves, and intact trichomes.
When ground, the aroma becomes more acidic and intense. When vaporized, the lemon remains prominent but is balanced by earthy and resinous notes that give this Lemon Leather its distinctive character.
A variety that reminds us that a lemony profile can take many more directions than just the simple freshness of citrus fruits.
See you next month for a new Newsweed × CBD Tester selection, where we’ll explore other producers, flowers, resins, and extracts.
This selection is based on tasting notes published by Testeur de CBD. The flavor descriptions reflect the testers' impressions and may vary depending on the batch and individual perceptions. Promotional codes are provided as part of partnerships with producers.
