Germany seeks «dealers» to distribute its medical cannabis
As Germany prepares to implement its new medical cannabis law, the government apparently needs expert assistance to help it set up its distribution system.
The Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) is seeking scientists to help it implement its law, which will take effect in March and will allow any doctor to prescribe medical cannabis to seriously ill patients.
Several lists of occupations have been released in recent weeks to facilitate the implementation of the law, ever since the The law was passed by the Bundestag in January. Some job titles require skills in «planning and organizing the transfer of cannabis within a distribution system»—in other words, someone who will be responsible for distributing the new substance legally.
Other tasks include issuing cultivation licenses and establishing the future Cannabis Agency.
Candidates should preferably have a degree in the medical field or the natural sciences, along with prior work experience and a good command of English.
The law passed on January 19 enables people who are very ill (multiple sclerosis or chronic pain) to receive prescriptions for medical cannabis products, which are covered by their insurance.
The government's final plan includes oversight of medical cannabis cultivation, which will be opened up to private producers.
