Hexahydrocannabinol is one of the new compounds derived from hemp and sold in places where THC is illegal, just like delta-8 or delta-10-tetrahydrocannabinol in the United States (these two compounds are illegal in France).
Although HHC was originally discovered by adding two hydrogen atoms to a THC molecule, it is now produced from hemp-derived CBD through a complex chemical process.
HHC produces mild psychoactive effects. Few studies have been conducted on this compound. In 2007, scientists tested HHC on mice and found that it increased sleep duration by 80 to 700 percent. The researchers also determined that HHC exhibited effects similar to those of delta-9-THC in mice, with less potent pharmacological effects.
