Arizona opens to home delivery of adult-use cannabis
Arizona residents will be able to have recreational cannabis delivered to their homes starting Friday, November 1, marking a new milestone for a state program that, until now, has only allowed the service for medical cannabis patients.
The Arizona Department of Health Services extends home delivery to anyone 21 and older.
Deliveries will be offered by dispensaries or third-party services that partner with a state-approved dispensary to legally deliver the goods.
The sale of cannabis for recreational purposes began in Arizona in 2021, following a voter-approved electoral initiative. The measure was adopted in autumn 2020, four years after the voters narrowly rejected a similar proposal, although medical cannabis has been legal in the state since 2010.
Legal cannabis sales topped the billion-dollar mark in 2023, even though retail prices have never been so low, due in part to oversupply.
«The average price per unit has fallen by 35 % in two years,» explains Lilach Mazor Power, president of the French Power Association.’Arizona Dispensaries Association.
Association officials said the new delivery program should continue to expand access throughout the state.
«We're delighted that the Ministry of Health's proactive approach and commitment to a well-thought-out delivery program has helped us reach this historic moment ahead of schedule,» Ann Torrez, the association's executive director, told KPNX TV.
