In Las Vegas, a future cannabis-friendly hotel
A hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, is undergoing a multimillion-dollar renovation and rebranding to become the first hotel in Sin City to be (legally) cannabis-friendly. The’Artisan Boutique Hotel, located just a few minutes from the famous Las Vegas Strip, is transforming into The Lexi, a 64-room hotel designed for cannabis use.
In a press release, the company stated that the entire fourth floor would be dedicated to cannabis. The hotel is owned by Elevations Hotels and Resorts. Elevations CEO Alex Rizk said:
«The Lexi will allow the brand to demonstrate its commitment to creating a new type of hotel concept—one defined not only by the acceptance and normalization of cannabis in the hotel environment, but also by our commitment to restoring historic properties and transforming them for modern travelers.»
The renovated hotel is expected to open in the spring of 2023. Elevations purchased the property in March 2022 for $11.9 million, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Rizk said the company wants to preserve the personality of The Artisan. The entire 4th floor will be a smoking area and equipped with a state-of-the-art air filtration system to prevent it from turning into a giant fishbowl.
«We want to make it a high-end experience and preserve that atmosphere,» he told the Journal. «We want to keep the playful vibe. We want to make sure we preserve the hotel’s sexy vibe, but we want to make it classier than it used to be.»
Elevations, which is based in Phoenix, Arizona, also manages the Clarendon Hotel in Phoenix, Arizona, which features a lounge and guest rooms designed for cannabis use.
