Zkittlez tastes a lawsuit from candy maker Skittles

Last week, one of the world's largest confectionery companies, Wrigley, filed a lawsuit against a small but influential Californian company Terphogz, promoter of the cannabis variety and the Zkittlez brand.

Wrigley continues Zkittlez for trademark infringement, false designation of origin, unfair competition, trademark dilution, cybersquatting and other related allegations.

Wrigley, a subsidiary of Mars, is the world's largest manufacturer of candy and confectionery. The conglomerate alleges that Terphogz is illegally marketing the Zkittlez trademark, and is demanding that it cease using the trademark, destroy all Zkittlez merchandise, surrender the zkittlez.com website and pay legal costs.

«Wrigley brought this action to protect the public from Terphogz's deceptive and dangerous business practices and to safeguard the goodwill and reputation of Wrigley's renowned SKITTLES brands.», says the chase.

The Zkittlez brand, which rebranded itself as «The Original Z» on Instagram, defended its actions stating, among other things, that it had «never done a candy/edible collab. with any company», a defense that may run out of arguments once in court.

Wrigley has filed two lawsuits, one in Illinois and another in California.
