📖 Description

Wedding Cake is one of the most popular hybrids on the Californian cannabis scene. Born of a cross between a Cherry Pie and a GSC (Girl Scout Cookies), It leans towards indica (60/40) and has THC levels up to 25 %. Its aromas reflect its name: a sweet, vanilla base with a surprisingly spicy, earthy aftertaste. Its effects combine initial euphoria and deep body relaxation, a variety equally appreciated in recreational and therapeutic use.

Origin and genetics of Wedding Cake

Wedding Cake was developed by the Seed Junky Genetics in California, from two of the most emblematic varieties of the Cookies line:

  • Cherry Pie hybrid from Granddaddy Purple × Durban Poison, brings fruity notes and indica relaxation.
  • GSC (Girl Scout Cookies) one of the most award-winning strains on the American West Coast, brings THC potency and complex sweet-spicy flavours.

The exact genetics of Wedding Cake, however, are subject to debate in the cannabis community. Some seedbanks argue that this is actually a phenotype Triangle Mints (itself from Animal Mints × Triangle Kush). The Cherry Pie × GSC version remains the most widely accepted, not least because the influence of the Durban Poison, an African sativa landrace in the GSC genealogy, is clearly perceptible in the effects.

Wedding Cake is also known as Pink Cookies, particularly among certain European seedbanks. Both names refer to the same genetics.

Is Wedding Cake an indica or a sativa?

Wedding Cake is a dominant indica, with a proportion of 60 % indica / 40 % sativa. It's a relatively well-balanced hybrid, but its indica bias is clearly evident in its effects: bodily relaxation gradually takes over from the initial cerebral stimulation.

In terms of morphology, the Wedding Cake is true to its Indica heritage:

  • Compact, stocky plant (80-120 cm), no staking required
  • Dense buds with intermingled dark and light green leaves, covered with resin crystals
  • Fast flowering 7 to 9 weeks (49-63 days)

It's a versatile variety, suitable for a late afternoon or evening, but whose indica component makes it not recommended at the start of the day if you have obligations.

Aromas, flavors and terpenes of Wedding Cake

Wedding Cake's aromatic profile is more complex and subtle than one might at first expect. It's not an explosion of vanilla as the name might suggest, but a blend of earthy, floral and discreetly sweet notes, with a characteristic spicy aftertaste.

In the mouth: the smoke is doughy and slightly acidic, with an almost creamy texture. Some consumers compare it to sourdough bread rather than sweet cake.

Its three dominant terpenes explain this profile:

  • Humulene terpene: the main terpene responsible for the woody, spicy and slightly earthy notes. It's the same terpene found in beer hops. It also has anti-inflammatory and appetite-suppressant properties.
  • Limonene Adds a sweet, slightly lemony touch, contributing to euphoric effects and anxiety reduction.
  • Terpinolene Floral, herbaceous and slightly fruity notes that round out and soften the overall profile.

What does Wedding Cake do?

The effects of Wedding Cake are gradual and long-lasting, typical of the high-THC hybrids in the Cookies family.

Initial phase - cerebral effects : A calm, pleasant euphoria quickly sets in. Mental stress dissolves, moods lift. Thoughts remain clear, but gradually slow down.

Main phase - physical effects : The indica component takes over with a deep muscle relaxation. The body relaxes without the mind being completely anesthetized. It's this combination - relaxation without total disconnection - that makes Wedding Cake ideal for quiet evenings, movie marathons or calm indoor activities.

  • Gentle, long-lasting euphoria
  • Deep muscle relaxation
  • Stress and anxiety relief
  • Slight sedation at end of effect (couch-lock possible at high dose)
