Nepal: an Asian hemp summit in February 2019
Next February, the first will be held in Kathmandu Asian Hemp Summit, an entrepreneurship summit organized to discuss the opportunities offered by the culture of hemp in Asia, particularly in China, Nepal, India, South Korea, Thailand, and Japan.
The summit will bring together entrepreneurs from around the world, and the organizers hope to see as many consumers, sellers, investors, activists, and politicians as possible attend the event, which will cover a wide range of topics related to hemp, such as cultivation, harvesting, sales, THC-based products, and industrial, construction, and cosmetic applications.
This meeting will provide an opportunity to develop the Asian hemp market, which is already experiencing strong growth in several regions, accompanied by legislative changes, but also to forge partnerships between European or American companies and Asian industry, which is already in place, as indicated Dhiraj K. Shah, a consultant who founded SHIV, an investment firm in the hemp market: «A lot can happen on the continent thanks to the strong traditions of trade and the import-export arrangements already in place among Asian nations.».
The creation of such an event in Asia is strong evidence of the rapid growth of the global hemp industry. Hemp is making a real comeback for many reasons, including its potential for use in sustainable and eco-friendly applications—for example, as a replacement for petroleum-based products.
