Las Vegas authorizes its first 24/7 cannabis dispensary
Since Friday last, Las Vegas hosts its first 24/7 dispensary.
Until now, city regulations had required dispensaries to close between 3am and 6am. But the city council has finally authorized the dispensary Oasis Cannabis to remain open non-stop. The city's mayor, Carolyn Goodman, abstained from voting, as her son has economic interests in cannabusinesses.
Asked why the dispensary needed an extra 3 hours of opening time, its owner, Benjamin Siltoe, replied that around the dispensary several stores, including a tavern and a painting studio, were open non-stop.
«We have customers waiting at our door as early as 6am, and are forced to eject them at 3am,» he also explained.
The other 26 dispensaries in Clark County will also be able to open continuously from October 3. The city of North Las Vegas also already allowed this.
Legal cannabis sales began last July in Nevada. The state now allows any adult over 21, including tourists, to buy up to 28g of cannabis.
The opening of the legal market was confronted in the early days some supply problems, but it seems that everything is now back to normal.
This means that high rollers can leave the casino at 4 a.m., having lost a few hundred dollars, and go enjoy some of the local cannabis strains. It won't bring their money back, but it'll probably cheer them up a bit. Or not.
