In the run-up to the elections, NORML France positions politicians on cannabis
At every presidential election, the question comes up: «Are you for or against the legalization of cannabis? While opinions are often clear-cut, they nevertheless reflect very poorly the complexity of the subject and the candidate's position on real regulation and its many ramifications.
In an attempt to discuss the subject in greater depth with all French elected representatives, and in particular with the 2022 presidential candidates, the NORML France association has developed a tool, NORML Score, enabling everyone to question all the candidates running for the next presidential elections, and more broadly all French parliamentarians, on issues of cannabis law reform.

After a quick questionnaire on health, safety, justice, education or economic issues, the parliamentarian is given a percentage score reflecting his or her overall position:
- 0-20% : Radical curator
- 20-40%: Moderate preservative
- 40-60% : Neutral
- 60-80%: Moderate reformer
- 80-100% : Radical reformer
The tool, launched at the beginning of November, has already enabled a number of members of parliament and candidates to respond and receive an initial ScoreNORML, which can be consulted at https://score.norml.fr.
«The #ScoreNORML is a long-term project which aims to take the temperature of the perception of cannabis and its necessary regulation for our country among the political class,» says Florent Buffière, who is in charge of the project at NORML France.
«The idea is to carry out other campaigns in the future, targeting other groups of people, but also to produce other, more precise questionnaires, aimed at editorialists, journalists, specialists and organization managers, for example.... »
From now on, anyone can send an e-mail to political decision-makers via the https://score.norml.fr or via social networks with the hashtag #ScoreNORML to ask them to complete the questionnaire.
