How to use CBD flowers?
The most popular product on the CBD market today is undoubtedly hemp flowers. If you were to ask even some seasoned consumers what the difference is between hemp and cannabis, chances are they wouldn’t really know.
Hemp and cannabis have indeed been used interchangeably throughout history, and both remain barely legal in France. While hemp is permitted under certain cultivation conditions, its flowers currently fall into a legal gray area. According to the strictest possible interpretation—that of MILDECA—their industrial and commercial use would be prohibited. However, this does allow for their possession as long as they contain less than 0.2% of THC, a fact that various websites have clearly understood.’Buy CBD.
All of this raises a question: Since CBD flowers look like cannabis, is smoking them a good way to consume CBD ?
Why all the hype?
Hemp has long been considered like a plant that can do it all. Its seeds are an excellent source of protein and essential amino acids and can be consumed whole, crushed, or in the form of hemp «milk.» The oil extracted from it can be used in cooking, cosmetics, or as a biofuel. Its leaves can be pressed to extract a juice rich in THC-A. The fibrous stem is used to make clothing, paper, building materials, or car dashboards.
And of course, there’s also cannabidiol (CBD), which hemp can produce in large quantities and which, unlike THC, is legal.
There are many types of products CBD on the market today. However, many CBD companies do not sell a «full-spectrum» product—that is, a formulation that includes compounds from the entire hemp plant and not just isolated CBD. Hemp flowers or the use of a «full-plant» CBD product can enhance the overall effect and maximize the beneficial properties of cannabinoids.
The addition of residual THC, terpenes, and other cannabinoids produces an entourage effect that more effectively delivers CBD to the endocannabinoid receptors.
The Best Ways to Consume CBD Flowers
Because CBD, like THC, is fat-soluble, infusing hemp flowers in oil or in butter is an excellent method if you’re looking to consume CBD orally. It will also provide a longer-lasting effect, as the molecule is broken down throughout the digestive process. However, ingesting CBD also means it must pass through the liver before entering the bloodstream, which significantly reduces its effectiveness.
Smoking hemp flowers in a joint or a bong is a great way to quickly experience the effects of CBD, but it has its drawbacks. Although the natural and anti-inflammatory effects of cannabis and hemp aren’t as harmful as tobacco, any form of combustion isn’t really good for the lungs or the body in general.
That leaves dry herb vaporizers. With these, the user inhales all the compounds in hemp (CBD, cannabinoids and terpenes) without the harshness of inhalation and the carbon emissions that come with it. CBD enters the bloodstream directly through the lungs without passing through the liver, so the effects are felt more quickly.
