American Ultra: weed to promote the film
Wednesday is movie release day, and it’s a chance for us to take a look back at a film that didn’t make much of a splash in France: American Ultra.
Only 262,000 admissions so far—it’s clearly not the blockbuster of the century. And if it doesn’t make it into the rankings of the Best Stoner Movies, one might have expected better from a cast featuring Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg. The predictable plot likely has something to do with it: a sleeper agent whose memory has been erased suddenly remembers everything and finds himself caught up in a government operation aimed at eliminating him.

The connection with Newsweed ? Jesse Eisenberg, who plays the character known as Jason Bourne, has a marijuana use constant. And the film's marketing campaign didn't hesitate to capitalize on it.
At last July’s Comic-Con in San Diego, the film’s promotional team handed out samples of marijuana to medical cardholders—«a unique therapeutic strain called American Ultra, grown exclusively for the film by one of San Diego’s top growers.» Comic-Con attendees could have free marijuana and promotional items delivered to one of 14 locations around San Diego.
It is assumed that using Cannabis It was only a matter of time before they started promoting a movie. The Marijuana is legal in California for medical use, but it can also help sell a movie!
