Product alert: the return of «glass beads» in weed?
In the 10 years of our existence, we had never witnessed such a massive wave of adulterated weed. And we thought weed impregnated with glass beads was stuck in the mid-2000s.
But following a Twitter post by Norml France and a thread on the Psychoactive forum, We shared the product alert on our Instagram account and were able to see the geographical extent of the presence of this modified weed.
From Toulouse to Rouen, via Lyon, Nantes, Montpellier, Paris, Bordeaux, Avignon... many consumers have contacted us, with photos or videos, to show us different types of weed, often very pretty in appearance, and adulterated with what look like glass or silica microbeads.
In the absence of analysis, the exact material of this cutting product is not yet known. But caution is still called for.
To detect it, it seems easy enough: the weed glows a lot, it squeaks in the grinder or between the teeth, as if there were sand inside. And there's usually plenty of powder when you hit the bud.
If people who have used weed experience any unusual symptoms (burning sensation in the mouth or throat, respiratory discomfort, stomach ache or even coughing up blood), they should consult their GP as soon as possible.
What's the point of these beads? Perhaps to embellish the product by making it shinier. Or, more likely, to make the weed heavier so as to sell less for the same price.
From the various discussions we've been able to have, these weeds are often sold by kilns or delivery systems attached to these kilns, or by semi-wholesalers. Adulteration would therefore take place upstream, with certain (Spanish?) wholesalers selling 9 kilos of weed + 1 kilo of marbles for the price of 10 kilos of weed.
Or the joys of having an illegal 100% market. Thanks to whom?
