3D printing to the rescue of smokers
Today, everything can be 3D printed: cars, bridges, even weapons. One field has not been spared: the cannabis market.
The Thingiverse platform is a directory of 3D objects. In 2010, a user uploaded the MakerBong, a template for printing your bong at home. This was the first 3D printing template for a cannabis accessory.
A few legal questions followed: does the platform have the right to distribute these shots? Should it delete users' contributions out of fear of the authorities? Will this content migrate from a public platform to private threads?
From what we can see today, the platform has not removed the contributions. When you search for the term «bong», you can see 88 results, from bong to the MarioBang.
To date, the MarioBang design has only been downloaded 2,000 times, the SkullBang 1,500 times, and the IceBong 5,000 times. Mass success isn't here yet, but the intention is there.
If we look a little further, it's easy to see the uses that could emerge from 3D printing. You don't have grinder ? Just download our plan, CTRL + P, and it comes out of the printer. Ditto for rolling papers, with cellulose-based ink, for example. And brands could provide certain paid templates for printing their products at home.
The uses of 3D could well revolutionize some domestic habits 😉
If you see any opportunities that we haven't mentioned, don't hesitate to leave a comment!
