King Charles III turns to medical cannabis in his fight against cancer
King Charles III, aged 76, would have turned to medical marijuana in his battle against cancer, according to sources close to Buckingham Palace.
A palace insider revealed to RadarOnline.com: «Charles is trying every conceivable remedy - and now some that aren't! The cancer diagnosis shook him to the core, and he thinks there's no harm in trying something experimental.
«He's always been an advocate of homeopathic medicines and remedies, and feels there's no danger in trying the cannabis route. He has read all the studies on its benefits and is giving it a try.
The medical cannabis is legal in the UK and can be prescribed in cases of cancer. Beyond its effects on cancer symptoms and treatment side-effects, some studies suggest that cannabis may help to inhibit cancer cells while preserving healthy cells.
Urban legend has it that Queen Victoria treated her period pains with cannabis, but there's no evidence to support this claim.
A musical reflection of its treatment
The king's support for medical marijuana is subtly reflected in its public activities. On the occasion of the Commonwealth Day, the sovereign has published a playlist of songs by artists from all over the world, including the legendary reggae musician Bob Marley. One of the selected titles, Could You Be Loved, suggests an affinity with the themes of Marley's music, which often celebrated the cannabis cultivation and its curative and religious properties.
One insider pointed out that «Bob Marley knew all about the supposed medicinal benefits of weed, and Charles is now an expert on the subject! »
Despite the challenges posed by his illness, King Charles remains committed to his royal duties. His recent actions suggest a desire to follow his father's example. daughter-in-law Kate Middleton, who has publicly shared her own battle with cancer.
