What is the new government's position on cannabis?
While France was trying to beat Belgium in its period without a government, new Prime Minister Michel Barnier finally took 16 days to put his government together. Two ministries are now directly involved in cannabis: Health and the Interior.
Where does everyone stand on cannabis?
Minister of Health and Access to Care
Geneviève Darrieussecq, MoDem MP for Landes, has become Minister for Health and Access to Care.
An allergist by profession, she has previously served in various ministries, including as Minister for the Disabled between July 2022 and July 2023.
He will be directly responsible for the medical cannabis dossier, while the texts are ready to be sent to Europe for notification, but are no doubt gathering dust on a desk. As we revealed earlier, patients now have little hope of seeing cannabis-based treatments before 2026, when the Direction Générale de la Santé has done nothing for 5 years - and that's an understatement - to move the dossier forward for reasons that are as yet unknown.
As for the position of the Minister, whose new moniker includes «Access to Care», it would be the last straw if she were to prevent sick people from seeking treatment.
But if nothing has happened in the last 5 years, nothing else would be surprising.
Minister of the Interior
Bruno Retailleau, Senator for the Vendée, has become Minister of the Interior. With his right-wing leanings, you might as well ask a penguin if he could see himself living in the desert to find out where he stands on cannabis.
When Cannabis Clubs opened in 2013 on the initiative of various associations, Bruno Retailleau, then President of the Vendée General Council, sent a letter to the public prosecutor to make him aware of the Vendée relay. Although of no direct consequence, it already defined the man.
In 2020, he joined Eric Ciotti and 80 Les Républicains deputies and senators in saying «no» to the of Republican mayors who called for the legalization cannabis in France. The argument didn't go much further than the film Reefer Madness, but it was enough to justify their opposition. In fact, the article reads:
«There is no such thing as a ‘soft drug’,» they write. Drugs are a poison, a scourge we must fight!"
Funny when you consider that Bruno Retailleau sold wine in the Senate refreshment room.
In one of his first speeches since taking office, Bruno Retailleau made the fight against drug trafficking one of his priorities. He does not rule out continuing Gérald Darmanin's clean-up operations, which on the whole have done nothing other than make drug trafficking and life around it more dangerous, in addition to killing a few dozen people.
But costume dictates, a Minister of the Interior to declare war on drugs !

And yes, of course!
But all the same, these stories of clean spaces and pro-prohibitions, who really benefits from them and what problem do they solve?
Because apart from making consumers feel guilty and creating a climate of anxiety among them (especially those who have medical comfort thanks to cannabis), this allows drug dealers to prosper (price fixing, cut products, regulation of competition) and our politicians to please their electorate.
So the winners are clearly not consumers, but drug dealers and politicians, so it won't change.

You have to be logical with the arguments of these political dinosaurs. I encourage these Judeo-Christians to go to the end of their reasoning and make courageous and pertinent decisions. So, let's ban weed and ban Pastis, mother Tiens I'm going to roll myself a mega banger of amnesia haze to forget the presence of the c***s who govern us....

I totally agree... they're so baseless and without any argument against this »plant»... in fact they're mixing everything up... pot with ultra high doses of thc has nothing to do with a basic plant (although a lot of strong genetics now) in one's garden and doesn't taste like blood, it seems to me! So legalization I think everyone should understand that it's the solution to protect children, teenagers and young adults by educating them about the dangers of potential damage to their brains...currently it's zero because of the taboo of the forbidden...it's also a plant to be studied for its therapeutic possibilities...as is the case in many countries...except us...as always...things drag on and that makes therapeutic users like me outlaws...(am I going to lose my licence tomorrow? Even if I don't vaporize self-made weed) and I'd never dream of getting behind the wheel afterwards... but the next day you have to, and the most sensitive police test in the world doesn't fail you... even with last night's cbd at 0.3 per cent thc, they find 0.15 nanograms... so you feel like a delinquent and hunted down...
Is this normal?
