Fluence launches RAPTR, high-efficiency LED lighting designed to replace traditional lighting technologies
As part of Fluence's diverse spectral portfolio, RAPTR serves as a highly effective and sustainable replacement for high-pressure sodium lamps
AUSTIN, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Fluence, a global provider of energy-efficient LED lighting solutions for commercial cannabis and food production, today launched RAPTR, the company’s latest high-efficiency lighting solution, designed to replace 1,000-watt high-pressure sodium (HPS) fixtures and maximize energy efficiency.
Greenhouse and indoor growers are increasingly seeking lighting solutions that offer superior efficiency and performance to reduce installation, operating, and maintenance costs while increasing crop yield and quality. Recognizing the importance of maintaining consistent harvest schedules while meeting specific energy needs, Fluence designed RAPTR to enable growers to seamlessly modernize their lighting solutions. In most cases, existing HPS electrical infrastructure—such as cables or distribution panels—can be reused with RAPTR, making it a truly plug-and-play solution.
«Upgrading a facility with LED technology opens the door to more light, creates opportunities for higher yields, and ultimately increases revenue,» said Jordon Musser, product manager at Fluence. «RAPTR is designed to reduce growers» operating expenses, increase light levels, or even achieve both without changing the existing facility configuration.”
Fluence’s ongoing global research, which explores the effects of LED lighting on cannabis, fruit, and vegetable crops, has consistently shown that higher light intensities increase yield at a ratio of nearly one-to-one. Multiple research studies conducted by Fluence, as well as various customer trials, have shown that for every 1 % increase in photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD), growers see an equivalent increase in yield, or an additional 1 %. For fruit and vegetable growers, increasing light intensity is certainly desirable, but it should not come at the expense of energy efficiency. RAPTR delivers higher light levels than its HPS counterpart, which increases yields for cannabis, fruit, and vegetable growers while helping to optimize the facilities’ energy consumption.
«Our mission is to help growers meet their goals, either through a 100 % LED lighting strategy or via a hybrid approach,» said David Cohen, CEO of Fluence. «The addition of RAPTR to our range of lighting solutions offers growers another option for optimizing their facilities to meet the needs of retailers and consumers. We look forward to collaborating with our growers worldwide to design, using RAPTR, the best lighting strategies tailored to their environments.»
Deliberately designed to minimize surface soiling and dust buildup, RAPTR luminaires meet the IP67 standard and feature powder-coated surfaces that are easy to clean and resistant to chemicals. The RAPTR solution will be showcased at the Fluence booth (No. 05.524) at the GreenTech Amsterdam trade show from June 14 to 16.
