Ben & Jerry's: weed ice cream coming soon?
The reputation of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and its eccentric founders is well established. Each of their ice cream flavors is unique and original. In an interview with HuffPost Live, Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield said they were open to a some experimentation in the future, and that they would consider making cannabis-infused ice cream where the law allows it.
«It makes perfect sense to me,» said Ben Cohen. «You have to know how to combine pleasures.» Jerry Greenfield added, «Ben and I have already experimented with certain substances, and I think that legalize marijuana is a wonderful thing, rather than putting people in jail. »It's not up to me to decide, but if it were, I would. Fortunately, we have wiser people at the helm of the company to make these decisions."
This isn’t the first time Ben & Jerry’s have highlighted their love for weed. The names of their ice creams are often evocative: “Satisfy My Bowl”—featuring chocolate chips shaped like “Peace and Love”—was created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the album *Legend* by Bob Marley -, Cherry Garcia (a type of weed), Half Baked, or even the Dave Matthews Band Magic Brownies Encore Edition (we’ll let you figure out the connection to magic mushrooms :p).
Only Cherry Garcia is currently available in France. But we figure that with an ice cream flavored with marijuana, we might soon see Ben & Jerry’s competing in the «best edibles» category of the Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam!
