Odorless cannabis soon on the Canadian market

After the THC-free cannabis, Introducing terpene-free cannabis. Ontario-based CannabCo plans to launch odorless cannabis on the Canadian market as soon as Health Canada approves its production license.

PURECANN technology is said to reduce the smell of cannabis «considerably» when burned, and to make the aroma of dried flowers «practically undetectable». The technology was originally invented solely for medical cannabis. But Mark Pellicane, CEO of CannabCo, sniffed out the opportunity in other markets: «when we saw the technology in action and the end result, we realized that there were a number of potential markets associated with the use of PURECANN».

«It's not a gadget or device that the consumer has to use, and the end result is pure cannabis that doesn't smell», explains Mark Pellicane. «A woman can carry cannabis in her purse without having odor in her purse. A number of consumers, and people around cannabis smokers, complain about odor, especially in confined spaces, condominiums and apartments, and this technology addresses those concerns.»

In its press release, the company explains that PURECANN technology can also reduce the hit associated with combustion, while reducing the «hangover sensation» that some people might feel the next day.

«Cannabis, by its very nature, when burned, generally causes coughing, and is very heavy when inhaled, which is particularly experienced by new users,» said Mark Novak, COO of CannabCo. «This technology, when deployed, eliminates much of this inconvenience and makes cannabis consumption much more tolerable while retaining its essential properties.« .

Health Canada has granted CannabCo a Confirmation of Readiness, authorizing the company to build its production site. The company is currently raising funds to build its pilot production plant in Brampton, Ontario.

Once the licensing process is complete, the company intends to produce a range of odor-free cannabis products for both the medical and adult-use markets.
