Superbowl bans medical cannabis ad
Superbowl LIV saw Kansas City defeat the San Francisco 49ers. The show attracted 102 million spectators and nearly $400 million in advertising revenue.
And while the booze hounds may have a field day during this extravagant show, some companies still don't have the right to screens.
In 2019, Acreage Holdings was denied airtime by CBS. The company was willing to put up $5 million for its spot, but CBS won't accept advertising for Cannabis, even though Acreage's activities are legal in the countries where it operates.
The main aim of the advert was to encourage the legalization of medical marijuana at federal level.
The ad featured 3 people: a boy who had hundreds of epileptic seizures a day that were not alleviated by traditional treatments, a man addicted to opioids, and a veteran who was in great pain after his leg was amputated.
Everyone attested to the effect of cannabis on their quality of life.
Newsweed takes a look back at this touching commercial.
