Rats blamed for disappearance of 25 kilos of weed in India
In Nagpur, India, rats have been blamed for the disappearance of 25 kg of weed and 25 bottles of alcohol. A case that makes journalists Indians.
A real trip for rats
According to Inspector Abhay Panhekar of the railway police of Nagpur, cannabis and alcohol have mysteriously disappeared from the seized stock. He says: »The seized products were weighed five years ago. It's difficult for us to confirm whether there has been looting or not. We don't have proper storage facilities for seized items, and we are sometimes forced to keep goods on the floor, and perhaps some rats may have damaged the pockets in which the cannabis was kept.» He goes on to explain that the alcohol was in plastic bottles. The rats would then have attacked the plastic bottles, causing the alcohol to disappear...
In response to this bizarre situation for the average citizen, Sabherao Patil, stock steward for the railway police, announced that a secure room would soon be built: »We'll be installing a surveillance camera there». However, he refused to answer questions about the unprecedented disappearance of the narcotics.
Rats are fond of cannabis and can wreak havoc on a plantation. If they put holes in plastic bags, that's fine. But making 25 full bottles of alcohol disappear! Rodents are tough as nails. Let's hope the camera in the future warehouse can provide us with the rats' reactions after eating 25 kg of weed.
