New York: a cannabis film festival
The CannaBus Culture Film Festival (CCFF) is a film festival about cannabis. In addition to highlighting its positive aspects, with a militant side for medicinal and recreational legalization, it focuses on the common experience of cannabis consumers. Cannabis through amateur, short and feature-length films in various genres (comedy, horror and science fiction). The only condition for entering a film is that it must be about cannabis. The idea is to offer filmmakers the general public's view of their work and to open up the floor to their work. The event will be held on June 22, 2017 on the plaza of Brooklyn's Hotel Whyte in New York City.
Tim Mattson is the co-founder of the Cannabus Culture Film Festival. A cannabis activist and film enthusiast, he explains that this event is an opportunity for filmmakers to prove their talent. This is the second edition of the festival: last year's launch was a resounding success. This year, the festival organizers explain that this weekend's edition aims to «celebrate entertainment and educational films on cannabis in the hope of transforming, stimulating change, and sharing developing horizons in the cultivation of cannabis in the United States».
The festival organizers will be setting up a drive-in cinema with two large screens, with indoor and outdoor projection facilities. Awards ceremonies will also be held to recognize the various films screened at the festival. The awards are as follows: Best Feature Film, Best Short Film (30 minutes or less), Best 1-minute Short Film, Audience Choice Award, Best Actor and Best Director. Priority is given to documentary films on medicinal cannabis and hemp.
The festival costs $17 to attend the single-screen broadcast, and $29 for full access to the festival.
