Is Colorado water really contaminated with THC?
Why do you ask? It all started on July 21, when a police officer in Lincoln County, Colorado, reported that the THC was found in Hugo's running water.
Tests carried out by a local analysis company confirm that 6 out of 10 tests show the presence of THC in the water. Panic-stricken, the county police force calls in the FBI and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. They are trying to determine the concentration of the psychoactive cannabinoid in the running water. For the time being, all use of running water is strongly discouraged.
Located over 150 kilometers from Denver, concern is growing in the town of 720 inhabitants. With no dispensaries or cannabis production sites, no one knows where the contamination might have come from. Authorities are urging residents not to drink tap water because of the risk of contamination. fear of THC intoxication. Grocers run out of bottled water. CNN and the New York Times even announce that 2,500 bottles of water are on their way to Hugo. Swimming in pools and cooking with water are not recommended.
The next day, on Friday July 22, the Colorado Department of Health and Environment calmed things down and declared that the water could be used for normal hygiene activities, but did not state that it was safe to drink. Test results will not be available until the following day.
On Saturday, July 23, the county police declared that the tests carried out by the water testing company had been erroneous. A mistake or a joke that has led to widespread paranoia in this small Colorado town. Police officers are investigating to find the culprit behind this prank.
However, the risks of THC poisoning from running water are minimal. You should throw a astronomical quantity of weed in water supply networks to create an effect. A scientifice working as an analyst in a Denver dispensary asserts that it is virtually impossible to contaminate water with THC, as the active ingredient is sparingly soluble in water.
