[EXCLUSIVE] Bruno Retailleau's next «spot with shocking images» to «make consumers feel guilty».»
Probably having learned its lesson from the failure of 100 years of global prohibition and 55 years in France, ...but also due to the massive increase in cocaine use in 2024, Bruno Retailleau wants to «make users feel guilty» and announced on BFTMV this weekend that he plans to air a «public service announcement featuring shocking images.».
And if you thought this would be a very modern approach to raising awareness among consumers who are denied access to a legal market—leaving them with no choice but to purchase and consume products illegally—you’re wrong! Newsweed has, in fact, gotten an exclusive sneak peek at the upcoming government ad.
Before we reveal it to you, do you remember the previous anti-cannabis campaign? Of course you do—«Behind the Smoke,» with catchy slogans like «Fighting cannabis means fighting academic failure» or «Fighting cannabis means fighting household accidents.» No? The campaign was kept so secret that even its cost had not been disclosed. We might as well waste a few million euros when the war on drugs spends half a billion a year with no results.
But enough with the sarcasm. Here’s a sneak peek at the upcoming ad designed to make drug users feel guilty—an ad that will wipe out drug use in France and, by extension, drug production worldwide. The use of authentic black-and-white footage will surely help consumers reconnect with the roots of the problem!
N.B.: That was, of course, a joke, the film *Reefer Madness* is a very old American anti-drug campaign that portrays cannabis users as murderers or rapists. But the reality of the French anti-drug campaign isn’t all that different!

50th Anniversary of the ’Call of the 18th Joint«: What’s in Store?

Phew, I really feel for my fellow Frenchies back home… I’m grateful to my parents for deciding to move to Quebec in the 1960s. Here, I can buy cannabis in all its forms legally and without any stress at a store—or, if it’s too cold, have it delivered right to my door. In Quebec, the maximum allowed THC content is 30 %, whether it’s resin, concentrates (hash, wax, rosin), or weed. The maximum amount allowed per purchase is 28 G. The maximum amount allowed to be stored at home is 150 g. I wish you the best of luck as you continue working toward legalization in France—after all, your neighbors have already made the right decision to combat drug trafficking and offer those interested a safe, quality-controlled product.
