Distribution of joints for Donald Trump's inauguration
A group advocating for the rights of marijuana users will distribute 4,200 pre-rolled joints to ordinary citizens ahead of Donald Trump’s inauguration speech on January 20.
The new President of the United States, Donald Trump, will deliver his inaugural address at the White House on January 20. To highlight that cannabis is a national issue, the DC Cannabis Campaign will distribute 4,200 pre-rolled joints for free on a street adjacent to the White House. The organization, which spearheaded the legalization of cannabis in the District of Columbia (DC) in 2014, is expected to set up its booth at Dupont Circle or across from the Capitol, right next to the National Mall. «We’re going to hand out weed for the inauguration, and we’re even going to encourage people to smoke during the speech,» says Adam Eidenger, a member of the organization. «I can already picture a cloud of weed floating above the inauguration.» The joints will be distributed for free and, of course, will be 100% pure.
Turn them on after 4 minutes and 20 seconds
Members of the association will ask the audience to light their joints 4 minutes and 20 seconds after Donald Trump begins his speech. As a tribute on the famous 4/20 and to remind the president that the country needs to reform cannabis policy at the federal level. However, the association isn’t going to fill the Capitol with smoke using 4,200 joints. Barack Obama’s first inaugural address drew a crowd of 1.2 million people, and it’s estimated that his second term was officially inaugurated in front of 800,000 people. Maybe next time with 420,000 joints?
In the U.S. capital, adults are allowed to possess up to 28 grams of cannabis. However, using it in a public place can result in a fine of up to $500 and a maximum of two months in prison. The sale of cannabis is not yet regulated in the District of Columbia. The President Trump 100% says it supports the use of medical cannabis. For now, it wants to let the states decide for themselves what to do about recreational cannabis.
