Sesh (or session)
Generally speaking, a session is a social gathering with a group of people, usually friends. In the world of weed, a session—also known as a “sesh”—is a communal act of cannabis use that typically involves two or more people passing around a joint, a blunt, a pipe, or a bong.
There are many social norms to follow when a whole group is enjoying a sesh, including which way to pass, not “holding out,” offering to contribute or toss, and other basic rules of cannabis etiquette. One of the most iconic gatherings among cannabis smokers is the one where people from all over the world come together on April 20 to celebrate cannabis.
How to make the most of a sesh
For many people, getting high is one of the most enjoyable aspects of using cannabis, as it involves spending time with a group of friends. A session can be a way to bond, chat, or listen to music, and get to know new people better. In any case, getting high is a social activity, so be sure to use a good label :
- Puff, puff, pass
- Pass on the left
- Be kind if others offer to share their cannabis with you in the spirit of community
- Offer to chip in for the weed, or if you have some on you, bring it to the sesh
- Do not get the mouthpieces or tips of your bongs, dabs, or vape pens wet
- Gently tap the burnt ash off the joint before smoking it
The person who rolled it usually takes the first hit from the joint, blunt, or bong, but it’s always polite to offer it to the host or a newcomer.
