Anther
An oval-shaped sac at the end of the stamen in which pollen is produced, stored and then released by the male cannabis plant. If left undisturbed in the wild, the anthers release pollen grains into the air. If the cannabis plant is used for reproductive purposes, the pollen can be collected from the anthers and applied to female cannabis plants to produce a cross between these two varieties.
What is a flower anther?
The anther of a flower is the part of the stamen where pollen is produced. The pod-like anther is attached to the stamen, which takes the form of a thin filament. Most plants have around half a dozen anthers surrounding the center of the flower. The anther can appear in a range of colors from light yellow to deep red.
What is the main function of the anther?
The main function of a flower's anther is to produce pollen for flowering plants. The pollen contained in the anther provides the sperm needed for reproduction. The function of the anther is to attract pollinators, such as bumblebees, to the flower. Reproduction would be impossible without this crucial part of the flower's anatomy.
