How to use this CBD calculator

The price on the packaging of a CBD oil says nothing about its real value. A €30 oil may contain twice as much CBD than one sold for €50. The only reliable indicator is the cost per 100 mg CBD.

1
Select product type Oil (in ml), flower or pollen (in grams), capsules (in units) or extract/crystals (in grams).
2
Enter contentment and concentration The concentration is indicated on the packaging (e.g.: 10 %, or 1,000 mg per 10 ml). For capsules, enter the number of units and the dose in mg per capsule.
3
Enter price The price you paid or found on the sales site, including VAT.
4
Read the results Total CBD in mg, cost per 100 mg, duration of stock at 25 mg/day and daily cost. Then use the comparison to evaluate two products side by side.

What formula does this tool use?

The calculation is simple and totally transparent:

  • Total CBD (mg) = capacity (ml or g) × concentration (%) × 10
  • Cost / 100 mg = price (€) ÷ total CBD (mg) × 100
  • Stock duration = CBD total (mg) ÷ 25 (daily reference dose)
  • Daily cost = price (€) ÷ stock duration

The daily reference dose of 25 mg is indicative. It corresponds to the lower range of doses used in clinical studies on the well-being effects of CBD. It does not constitute a medical prescription.

How to read the value for money?

Cost / 100 mg CBD Evaluation Comment
Less than €2 Excellent Rare on the French market. Check the quality of sourcing.
2 € à 4 € Good Within the market average. Good value for money.
4 € à 6 € High Justified only by an organic label, a quality full spectrum or a documented premium brand.
Over €6 Very high Always ask for the COA and compare before you buy.

Oil, flower, capsule or extract: what are the differences?

CBD Oil

The most widely used form in France. Taken sublingually (under the tongue) for rapid absorption, or added to food. Sublingual bioavailability is estimated at between 13 and 19 % depending on the study - higher than direct oral ingestion (6-10 %).

Flower and hash

Consumed as an infusion or vaporized. Vaporization offers the best bioavailability (34-46 % according to Huestis, 2007). CBD flowers are legal for sale in France if the THC content is less than 0.3 %.

Capsules

Practical for precise, reproducible dosing. Oral bioavailability is lowest (6-10 %), but effects are longer and more regular - interesting for daily use.

Extracts and crystals

Very high concentrations (60-99 % CBD). Cost per milligram is generally lowest. They require precise weighing (0.01 g scales) and are consumed diluted in oil or vaporized at low temperature.

Full spectrum, broad spectrum, isolate: what's the difference?

  • Full spectrum Contains all natural cannabinoids (CBD, CBG, CBC, CBN), terpenes, flavonoids and traces of THC (< 0.3 %). Benefits from'entourage effect documented by Russo (2011).
  • Broad spectrum Same profile, but THC is chromatographically removed. Recommended for people undergoing professional testing.
  • Isolat 99 %+ pure CBD. No entourage effects, maximum concentration per gram, generally lowest cost per mg.

CBD legal in France: what you need to know

Since the'order of December 30, 2021, cannabis flowers and leaves containing less than 0.3 % of THC are authorized for sale in France. CBD oils, capsules and extracts are legal under this same condition. All products sold legally must be accompanied by a certificate of analysis (COA) issued by an accredited laboratory.
